Best Restaurants in Cappadocia: A gluten-free Guide
When we thought of Cappadocia, a culinary adventure was the last thing that came to mind. To our surprise, the food in the region was incredible, and today I want to share our favorite discoveries.
I’ll confess, as a family, we have two great loves when it comes to food: Asian and Italian. Finding so many restaurants that offered these options in Cappadocia was a true blessing. But the reality is that we’re foodies at heart and we love food—all kinds of food! That’s why we were able to enjoy the amazing variety of grilled meats, Turkish dishes, and international cuisine.
The Restaurant Scene: A Local’s Perspective
Unlike other cities, you won’t find a lot of street food in Cappadocia. The restaurants are mainly concentrated in Göreme, but we found some amazing spots like Oscar’s and Fresco that were located outside of the main town. We decided to splurge on our meals and really enjoy the culinary side of our trip.
One important tip: if you want to eat at a stunning rooftop view, especially in high season, it’s essential to make reservations ahead of time.

Our Favorite: Quick China
If we had to choose just one restaurant, it would definitely be Quick China. It was our first time eating Chinese food in Turkey, and we were fascinated. The food was fresh, delicious, and best of all, they had options that fit my gluten-free diet.
- I had a Pad Thai that was honestly incredible, along with some California Rolls.
- Lukas was brave and tried some dumplings that he said were delicious.
- Santi, the family adventurer, went for a sweet and sour chicken that I can’t remember the name of, but he devoured it.
- And Jose? Well, he devoured his dish so fast that I don’t even remember what it was, but I’m sure it was delicious!

For a Special Night Out: Oscar’s Steakhouse
If you’re looking for a place with a spectacular view and high-quality food, Oscar’s is the spot. What we loved most about it was the incredible service and the stunning view from the terrace. Here we decided to splurge a little (after all, “God will multiply it!”).
- To start, we ordered a delicious cheese platter with nuts.
- I enjoyed a juicy steak with a fresh salad.
- The kids chose their favorites, some tasty hamburgers.
- And Jose… my memory fails me again! But I’m sure he also splurged on a great T-bone steak.
- The restaurant even brought us a complimentary dessert, a Turkish baklava, which I couldn’t try (if you’re GF, you know why), but my family absolutely loved it.
A Must-Visit: Pumpkin Goreme Restaurant
This place is a must-visit for a unique dining experience. The menu is creative and we had to try their famous pumpkin soup! It did not disappoint and was the perfect meal for a cool night. This is an excellent spot to visit during the fall, winter, or early spring when the weather is more crisp, as the soup is a bit heavy for the summer heat.
Delicious Meals at a Fair Price
For those looking for delicious and more affordable options, we also found some excellent places:
- At the Italian restaurant Fresco, we found fabulous food at a very reasonable price. I had a gluten-free fettuccini Alfredo, and Jose and the kids also ordered their pasta!
- We also enjoyed the food at Woodfire and One Way, where we tried grilled meats and found a variety of flavors for every member of the family.
More Top-Rated Cappadocia Restaurants (A Bonus List!)
We couldn’t visit them all, but based on our research and local recommendations, here are a few other highly-rated restaurants to consider for your trip:
- Topdeck Cave: A cozy and intimate cave restaurant known for its delicious Turkish dishes. It’s perfect for a romantic or quiet dinner.
- Seten Anatolian Cuisine: A fine dining experience with amazing panoramic views and traditional Anatolian food. It’s a great spot for a special occasion.
- Old Cappadocia Cafe & Restaurant: A popular place that serves classic Turkish dishes in a rustic and charming setting. Their homemade food and cozy terrace are big draws.
- Lil’a Restaurant: Located in the Museum Hotel, this restaurant offers a high-end experience with breathtaking views of the valley and a menu that blends traditional Turkish flavors with modern techniques.
My Tip for Celiac Travelers and Foodies at Heart
If you’re a celiac or have a dietary restriction, my best advice is to communicate openly with the servers. The people in Cappadocia are very kind and are always willing to help and make the necessary arrangements so you can eat safely. In every restaurant, we were able to find at least one option that fit my needs, which was a pleasant surprise.
The food in Cappadocia was a real treat. We’re honest, we’ll eat whatever’s put in front of us, but the variety, quality, and kindness of the restaurants made this trip even more memorable.
So, tell me…
